VMware Fault Tolerance

FirstServed extensively uses the VMware vSphere platform for setting up high-availability solutions.
A common implemented technology is the built in fault tolerance that enables an active/standby configuration of you virtual machines.
This ensures your virtual server will seamlessly run on a backup node in case a problem on the master node occurs, all without downtime.

File level backup and snapshot backups

FirstServed offers two backup possibilities. Backup at file level which uses incremental and full backup schemes. On daily basis, an incremental backup is made of your server(s) and weekly a full backup takes care of your data.
As an alternative we offer the ability to use snapshot backups which offer a backup in time (like a picture snapshot) of your virtual server. The snapshot backups come in hand for deployment tests so you may easily fall back on a previous version of your virtual machine.

Off-site backup

For even more redundancy you may rely on off-site backup solutions.
Your data is securely backupped to the Storage Area Network (SAN) in the second FirstServed datacenter. Files are transferred through a dark fiber connection between both datacenters.

24/7 monitoring

Your application and hosting platform may well be redundant, without a decent monitoring no one knows what happens with your services behind the curtains.
The FirstServed monitoring system guarantees an accurate tracking of your servers, services and network connectivity.
If you wish you may be warned with e-mail and SMS alerts for the status of certain services.
